Breath

Breathing is more important than you might realize. We can’t do much without breathing; but how do you know if you breath well? Our lungs are much bigger than you think - they go up almost to the bottom of our neck!! Here are a few tips to improve your breathing:

  1. Vitamin D: Studies show that those who took an increased amount of Vitamin D (in conjunction with standard rehabilitation) saw improvement in their respiratory strength and ability to exercise.

  2. Stop your day and take 3 deep breaths: During our busiest and most stressful days we tend to only take shallow breaths. Stop for a few minutes and really focus on big breaths.

  3. Keep a clean home: Dust and other allergens can cause more frequent flare-ups in respiratory issues. Support your lungs by keeping your home as clean as possible.

  4. Exercise more: It is known that this will help your blood circulation and improve your breathing over time.

  5. Learn to meditate: Meditation can help expand your breath and make you realize how shallow your breath usually is. Start with a guided meditation if you have never done it before. I use an app on my phone called Headspace!
