My first ever 5K
/I only ran one race in my life. It was a 5K and only happened last year. While I like working out and running, I never felt the urge to run with others and being part of an organized race. While planning for it and spending money to register, I must say it was very different than my typical solo runs. The race definitely helped the adrenaline levels and it surprised me how special and exciting it felt than my solo 5K runs.
Why do I like running?
I like running outside and feel it helps me clear my mind. It’s cheap (free!!) and I just need to step outside. I usually run to the radio or podcasts as running to music can get too intense for me. Running is very individual and there’s no one way that works for all. You might prefer running in the morning or in the afternoon. To loud music or radio and audio books. You might prefer long distances over short or fast pace over slow. It only shows how different we are and how we react to physical activity. If you are not a running fan, I encourage you to try it in a different way than before, just to see how it feels. It might be intimidating to try and run fast or for a long distance. Give yourself a realistic goal at first and just make it fun and quality time with yourself.
